The characteristics of a good crankcase
A wet sump
The crankcase, whether wet or dry, always receives a certain amount of oil from the engine. The engine operating mode always remains the same for both types of crankcase. There is a type of sump that has an internal reservoir to directly contain oil. This is known as a wet sump. The mode of operation of the latter is done by the bubbling system or via a specific pump. We can say that there may be other systems but the most common are these last two.
A dry sump
This is different from the previous one, the oil tank is in another compartment. On the latter, the system is provided by two pumps. One is responsible for drying the crankcase and the other when to it will ensure the pressure or directly feed the engine. The advantage with this type of casing is that it has a fairly low volume.
