Replacing the sealed harness of a Sym scooter:
- Use a screwdriver to loosen and release the Sym scooter headset screws from below.
- Gently lift the headset to give yourself room to work.
- Reach out and pull the wiring connector on the back of the bulb so you can unplug it.
- Use a suitable screwdriver (flat or cruciform head) to loosen the headlight bracket that holds the bulb in place.
- Reach out and detach the sealed bulb from its socket. Loosen it completely using the screwdriver.
- Remove the holder and remove the old bulb. Throw away the old bulb or recycle it if desired and in case there are facilities available in your city.
- Unpack the new sealed bulb and insert it into the helmet holder.
- Use a paper towel to avoid touching the bulb with your hand as much as possible.
- Hold the bulb in place and apply the retaining bracket removed previously.
- Carefully reinsert the retaining screws and tighten them with a screwdriver.
- Reconnect the wiring to the back of the bulb and tighten the top of the helmet.

Replacing a removable bulb on a Sym scooter:
If it is a replacement of a removable bulb on a Sym scooter here are the twelve steps to follow: Follow the same procedure as for the sealed harness, using a screwdriver to remove the top of the helmet and secure the clearance.
- Pass your hand through the helmet cavity and place a thumb on the retaining clip of the inner headlight bulb holder of the Sym scooter.
- Rotate the clip to release the inner bulb holder from the Sym scooter.
- Pull the internal bracket back without disconnecting anything.
- Leave sufficient space, moving the inner holder away from the bulb cavity of the Sym scooter until you can see the bulb.
- Grasp the bulb itself, turn it and pull it out of the holder.
- Throw away or recycle the old bulb if you wish.
- Unpack the new bulb.
- Hold the new bulb using a paper towel to avoid touching the glass directly with the skin (fingerprint oil causes hot spots and subsequent bulb failure).
- Push the bulb into the holder, turn it and snap it into the holder.
- Reinsert the holder with the bulb into the bulb cavity.
- Reattach the bracket retaining clip to hold the bracket in place.
- Lower the headset cover and secure it again with a screwdriver.
