Indeed, it is a machine and like any machine, it contains various parts that we will call wear. These parts, although it is possible to save them a little, like batteries, they ask for changes.
Sometimes we will not have precise data as to the date of the change, but sometimes these are changes that occur at regular intervals and this is exactly the case with the overhaul of a scooter.

Step 1: Consult the maintenance booklet to know the revision of a scooter
The best way to know when to overhaul a scooter is to take a look at the service manual provided by the manufacturer. It is a real bible which will give you all the information.
First, you will have a full schedule of revisions. This will tell you precisely the mileages in which you will have to be interested because of your machine in general.
But in addition to that, you will be able to find inside information such as the lifespan of certain parts that you will have to change during one of your overhauls, in short everything you need.
This is why, if you ever lost it, we will strongly advise you to search for it on the internet in order to allow you to find all this precious information and to print it again.
If it was really not possible to get your hands on this documentation, because your scooter is too old for example, assume that you have to do a small service every 2500 km and a big one every 5000.
Step 2: Build Tire Pressure and Check Pads
The first step when you want to overhaul a scooter is to take an interest in the wheels. The easiest way is to get the tire pressure, and you will need a first tool.
This tool, it's a manometer. You just need to plug it directly into your tire and it will be able to tell you the air pressure inside of it. Then refer to the manufacturer's advice.
Be aware that it is not good for tires to be underinflated, but overinflated tires are not better either. So, don't add the pressure by telling yourself that you are doing it for the sake of safety.
By doing this, you increase the chances of premature wear on your tires! Once everything is good on the tires, remove the brake pads and check the condition of the lining thereof.
It must be at least 1mm thick to function properly. If this is no longer the case, you are going to have a machine that brakes a lot less well and you are therefore going to have to make a change.
Step 3: Clean the air filter
Once you've looked at the wheels, the next step in overhauling a scooter will be to check your engine for air. Indeed, it needs to be mixed with gasoline to operate.
Air supply is assured by an air filter which will capture all the waste and prevent it from reaching the engine so that it is not damaged. But as you can imagine, capturing the waste means that this filter can clog.
We therefore encourage you to check that the air filter is still in good shape. If you see that it is heavily soiled, you are going to have to change it to save yourself a whole bunch of future problems.
Step 4: The oil change, a key step in the overhaul of a scooter.
The last step in the overhaul of a scooter is the oil change. To do this, you must first make sure you are on level ground so that all the oil can be drained.
Once it's done, place a basin under the oil pan so that it does not flow to the ground. Then unscrew the screw of the oil pan and wait patiently for it to empty of its contents.
Once it's good, you just have to top up the oil, making sure to put the level between the minimum and the maximum, not more. Once this is done, you have finished the overhaul of a scooter.
