Handlebars for motocross

Usually designed with materials that make it easy to grip, they are also quite resistant. They can handle cases of extreme shocks linked to the various vibrations and turbulences caused by the unevenness of the competition tracks. The characteristics of a good handlebar

The type of motorcycle

The choice of handlebars must be made in relation to your type of motorcycle. This means that if you have a competition or motocross bike, the flat or custom handlebars will not suit you. In this type of case, you will need a handlebar that provides good handling and is resistant to the shocks caused by jumps. Apart from that, you have to take into consideration the internal and external size of your handlebar tube. In addition to this, it is necessary to check the compatibility of the handlebars with the part known as the fork bridge. You should know that it is impossible to create an adaptation, even a professional will not succeed.

The ergonomics of your handlebars

It deserves to specify that it is necessary to adapt the type of handlebars to your type of use, if you have a sporty type motorcycle, it is not logical to mount a handlebar for cross. Knowing that athletes are not needed to ride on a track with significant drops. For this purpose, the handlebars of the latter must always be flat. This shape is probably not suitable for everyone, however, it allows to have a good ease of driving and a good grip. All this serves to avoid any risk of accident or at least will help to reduce it.

The material

The materials used for the design of a handlebar vary from the most accessible to the most expensive. We therefore have the choice between steel which is resistant and is easy to find. The only downside with this one is that it is quite heavy. This way, it makes more sense to choose a material like aluminum for sports cars. Aluminum is lighter but is more expensive than steel. For those who want optimum lightness, the last choice which can be very expensive is carbon. You should still know that carbon is less resistant and can wear out more quickly.

The cost of a handlebar

We come to the part which is one of the most interesting of this article. It should be noted that the price of the handlebars depends on the type of material used for its design. We can also consider other factors that can slightly influence the price but the material takes precedence over all this. For an aluminum handlebars, count a hundred euros on average. Afterwards, you should know that the handlebars for custom type motorcycles can cost more, it can range from 60 to 300 euros.

For one reason or another, you may need to change your handlebars. You wouldn't want to hire a professional, so you will do it yourself. We will see in a few steps the technique for this.

Change the motorcycle handlebars

Removing the handlebar to be replaced

You must have an Allen key for this. Start by removing the various components of the handlebars, namely the end caps and all the fasteners. After that you will need some lubricant to demonstrate the handles, a soapy solution will do. Pour it on the part of said that comes into contact with the handlebars. Back and forth outwards and slide the handles until they come off. Subsequently, you must remove the commodos and mirrors. To complete the disassembly, do not forget to unscrew at the level of the trigger guard.

Fitting the new handlebars

Now you can fit the new handlebars, making sure to center it well first. Which means that it must be well put on the trigger guard. Once you are done you can tighten the trigger guard screw. Remember to check the stability of the whole assembly and that the handlebars are straight. Do not hesitate to carry out some tests and some adjustments if necessary. Once everything is in place you can move on to the next step which is the final phase.

Installation of all parts

This is the final phase to top off the job. Refit the handles using the same Allen key, then you have to put the controls and mirrors back. In the event that the commodos find it difficult to set up, you have to tweak. You have to bring a drill and mark the place where you are going to place it. Then you have to make a hole to bring in the pin. The operation unfortunately has to be done in both parts of the handlebars. There you have it, congratulations on your new handlebars.
