How to put a scooter on a kickstand?

It's amazing how non-bikers are always impressed with the weight of a motorcycle and especially that of a scooter. In fact, the only time you have to carry the weight of your scooter is when you try to put it on the center stand. Or when you end up on a slope. In any case, we can never talk enough about the advantages of the central stand: it allows the motorcycle to be stored in a smaller space, facilitates maintenance operations, it also allows you to build up the tire pressure, to tighten a chain. case of deflection, do some DIY operations, or set up luggage, having a central stand is an advantage! In this article, we will tell you the steps to follow to put your scooter on the center stand with the minimum of damage.

Step 1: Put the scooter in an upright position:

With the scooter on the side stand, walk towards the left side of the scooter. Bring the scooter as close to vertical as possible, being careful not to go over vertical - scooters easily fall in the opposite direction to yours.

Please note: : At this point, your left hand is on the left handlebars and your right hand is on the handle near the saddle.

Step 2: Lower the scooter stand:

While keeping the scooter upright, take the tip of your right foot and lower the kickstand until it touches the pavement or concrete, preferably. It can be done on firm grass or dirt, but it is more difficult.

Please note: : You can rock the scooter back and forth (just a little) with your foot on the tail of the center stand and feel if both sides of the stand are lowered.

Step 3: Put the scooter on the stand:

With your left hand on the left handlebar grip, grab the grip to perform this task and put your right foot on the tab of the center stand while pulling vigorously upward with your right hand. Keep pulling and pushing in opposite directions until you feel the rear of the scooter start to lift, and keep pushing until it falls back onto the stand. You have finished.

This procedure works for medium heavy scooters. For lighter scooters (500 cc and less), the procedure is the same, but the force required is much less; it is not necessary to use the force of the foot to stand up.

Why should you ask for help the first few times?

If you're a new rider with a fairly heavy scooter, ask for help on your first few tries (it might even be a non-motorcycling neighbor). Leave the sidestand down and ask the assistant to stand in front of you as you attempt this maneuver; he will have his right hand on the handlebars and his left hand in a convenient location in case you lose balance with the bike.

If the scooter pulls away from you in the direction of the assistant, it can catch up with it. If he pulls away from you on your side, drop him onto the sidestand. After a few tries, you will get there.
